Moisturize

Ok, so you may feel like your skin is really oily and you don’t want to add to the problem by putting lotion on your face. The thing is, when you don’t moisturize, your skin goes into overdrive to moisturize itself, essentially just creating more oil.
What you need is a very light, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, dye-free moisturizer. A couple of favorites…
- Oil of Olay Beauty Fluid - Sensitive Skin FormulaYes, it is really important that you get the one for sensitive skin. Do not buy the others even if it’s all the store has - go to another store. Use a very small amount, about dime sized - just enough to lightly cover your skin. Put a little extra on your neck for posterity - we don’t want to trade acne for wrinkles! Avoid your under eye area.
- 100% Natural Unrefined Yellow Shea ButterBy this I don’t mean “shea butter lotion,” or any of the other phony drugstore shea butter products that have one drop of shea per gallon of chemicals. I mean pure and natural shea butter. It should be fairly stiff in consistency with a deep yellow color. Again, use a dime sized amount, rub together in the palms of your hands, and apply a light layer.Shea butter is rather heavy compared to Oil of Olay, so this may be a night time moisturizer for you. It may also be good to switch to shea if your skin gets extra dry in the winter. Shea butter protects your skin from the elements, provides some natural UV protection, and has natural healing properties. Don’t be surprised if you see whiteheads appearing when you first start using shea; it draws out impurities from your skin so it is possible that your skin may get worse before it gets better. You should however see faster healing and less scarring.
One more thing - make sure your hands are clean before applying your moisturizer in order to avoid transferring bacteria to your skin.
